
Kinana Alkoud
Bio
Kinana Al-Koud is a visual artist specializing in sculpture and painting, based in Damascus, Syria, where she lives and works. She holds a diploma in sculpture and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, with a focus on painting, from the University of Damascus.
Kinana has extensive experience in fostering creative development in children, having worked from 2014 to 2018 on a project affiliated with the Damascus Governorate that supported artistic talents. She began as a drawing instructor and later served as a committee member and Head of the Sculpture Department. Between 2013 and 2020, she also taught painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Damascus.
Her professional work extends to heritage restoration in Damascus, where she contributed to the preservation of historic architectural walls (Ablak, Ajami, and Hariri styles). Throughout the years of conflict, Kinana has sustained her artistic practice in Damascus, creating work that reflects resilience and engagement with her community. She continues to work as a visual artist while raising two children.
Kinana’s practice combines technical skill with cultural awareness, focusing on sculpture, painting, and educational mentorship, highlighting creativity as a means to overcome challenges and nurture artistic expression in her community.
