Guest speakers

Aimee Kelley

Aimee Kelley is a doctoral student at Ghent University, where she researches school-based wellbeing support for newcomer adolescents. Prior to embarking on her PhD, Aimee studied creative writing and public health and also practiced law. She lives in Paris with her family.

Summary : In Egypt, there are tens of thousands of displaced Gazans living in difficult conditions, with few services or activities for children. This project provides photo, art and writing workshops to Gazan children ages 7-18 years old. In small groups, children create art and writing on themes of home, identity, and the future; children also practice reading aloud their written work to the group. In addition to creative self-expression, these workshops also give children a space to interact with each other.

Ivan Zacarias

Ivan Zacarias is a Mozambican humanitarian project manager with over eight years of experience in social development and emergency contexts. He works with KULIMA in Cabo Delgado, leading child protection and psychosocial initiatives. His work focuses on community-based interventions, human rights, and strengthening resilience among vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement.

Summary : This presentation shares field-based experience from Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, where art-based psychosocial support is used to assist children affected by conflict. It highlights how creative activities support emotional recovery, social interaction, and resilience. It also reflects on emerging challenges, particularly child malnutrition, and explores the need for integrated approaches combining psychosocial support, education, and nutrition in emergency contexts.

πŸ‘‰ We strongly encourage participants to actively contribute: You are welcome to briefly present a project, an activity, a research insight, or a key issue related to arts, culture and education in crisis contexts. This session is part of the INEE Meet-Ups 2026, gathering members and partners worldwide.
