Bio

Florence Carrot is a humanitarian protection specialist with over ten years of experience across emergency and development contexts in Nigeria, Peru, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger, & Democratic Republic of Congo. She holds a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation and a Master’s in Political Science focused on international public action and NGO strategies.

Currently serving as Protection Coordinator in Nigeria and Protection Monitoring Advisor for Lake Chad and Central Africa, Florence leads strategic protection responses, coordinates multisectoral teams, and advises on regional trends in displacement, statelessness, psychosocial support, community based protection and gender-based violence. Her expertise spans legal assistance, psychosocial support, and protection monitoring, with a strong focus on capacity building and advocacy.

Florence is passionate in integrating creative modalities—including art therapy and artistic collaboration—to translate complex human rights issues into accessible narratives. She has partnered with Académie Kivu Arts and the Goma Dance Festival to engage communities through visual and performance arts, especially around statelessness and peacebuilding.

Her leadership blends technical precision with cultural sensitivity, fostering inclusive dialogue and resilience. Whether training humanitarian actors or shaping national protection strategies, Florence centers dignity, creativity, and community empowerment in every context.
