Art to Face announces the creation of the International Observatory on Arts, Culture and Education in Crisis and Post-Conflict Contexts, a new platform dedicated to research, dialogue and cooperation among professionals working in fragile and conflict-affected environments.
The Observatory aims to strengthen international collaboration between researchers, artists, educators, cultural practitioners and humanitarian actors engaged in artistic and educational initiatives in contexts of crisis, displacement and post-conflict recovery.
Across many regions affected by conflict, cultural and artistic practices play an essential role in supporting resilience, memory, community dialogue and social reconstruction. Yet these initiatives often remain fragmented, under-documented or insufficiently connected at the international level.
The Observatory seeks to address this gap by creating a space where field experiences, research and artistic practices can be documented, shared and discussed. It will contribute to building a better understanding of how arts and cultural education can support communities facing violence, displacement and social fragmentation.
Its activities will include:
international webinars and online conversations
documentation of field initiatives and artistic practices
collaborative research and knowledge-sharing
exchanges between practitioners, researchers and institutions
The Observatory is coordinated by Art to Face and supported by an international network of partners working at the intersection of arts, education, humanitarian action and cultural policy.
By fostering dialogue across disciplines and regions, the initiative aims to contribute to a growing international movement recognising the importance of arts and cultural education in processes of resilience, recovery and peacebuilding.
