Pascale Bodin

Bio

Pascale Bodin is a nature storytelling sketchbook artist. She uses the sketchbook as a medium to highlight the natural environment and cultural heritage of South Finistère. Her work is structured around two main areas: on the one hand, the creation of artist sketchbooks and stationery (notebooks, journals, cards, etc.), and on the other hand, facilitating workshops and accompanying groups (schools, individuals, leisure centres). Her craft is officially recognised as an artisan art profession (métier d’art).

Pascale Bodin holds a scientific background in environmental studies, with a postgraduate degree (DESS) in Renewable Natural Resource Management. She moved to Brittany in 1998 and worked for 18 years for a major environmental protection association in Brittany as a nature educator in the Concarneau Cornouaille area and the Glénan Islands. She was also involved in specific projects such as the interpretation study of the Rosporden ponds (Finistère) and the drafting of the interpretation plan for the Iroise National Nature Reserve in Molène (Finistère).

During her university studies, she met a professor passionate about photography, and later an artist-educator who nurtured her artistic curiosity. When a professional transition arose, Pascale chose to combine art and nature in order to offer a renewed perspective on our environment. As a memory of lived moments, the sketchbook became the medium for observation and practice, combining drawings, sketches, watercolours and texts.

Pascale creates and sells her work at craft markets and art fairs, as well as through herbalist farmers.
Her projects with schools in Concarneau (Finistère) and institutions such as the Pont-Aven Museum have enabled her to develop a boundless creative approach: nature through the seasons, landscapes shaped by water, outdoor mathematics (project “When Pythagoras Goes Outdoors”), the belfry of the Ville Close in Concarneau, illuminated manuscripts (alongside the exhibition “Witches”), My Artistic Biography (with Albane Buriel and Véronique Brod), and travel sketchbook workshops.

Pascale simply enjoys sharing art and nature with diverse audiences.
