Nicolas Benoliel
Bio
Nicolas Benoliel is a humanitarian professional with ten years of experience in emergency settings such as Iraq, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria and Ukraine. He holds a Master's degree in International Relations, and a Master's degree in Humanitarian Action and Project Management.
Nicolas has worked in Ukraine for the past three years, as a Country Director for an NGO delivering Health, Psychosocial support and Protection services for war-affected populations along the frontline. He has been focusing his team's efforts on delivering emergency services to vulnerable people and to health structures, such as psychological first aid, medical consultations, training of medical facilities staffs on trauma care, or setting up safe spaces for gender-based violence survivors.
His expertise lays in leading operational strategies for large multisectoral and multicultural teams, promoting responses that enforce accountability to affected populations, and in developing genuine, innovative partnership modalities with national emergency responders. He has also been participating actively in high-level humanitarian coordination mechanisms and promoting key advocacies to ensure people's access to basic services.
Nicolas is passionate in setting up and implementing community-based responses in emergency settings, and in developing advocacy strategies to guarantee principled humanitarian action that respect the human rights of communities affected by a crisis. While the international solidarity is globally going through a reset phase, he believes that humanitarian responses must be more than ever principled, people-centered, innovative, and focus on developing strategic partnerships, most particularly with local responders.
