Céline Diais
Bio
Céline Diais is a self-taught photographer based in Brittany whose journey spans journalism, fine art photography and committed social-engagement. After working for several years in regional daily newspapers, she shifted her focus to visual storytelling and joined the French studio Hans Lucas in January 2018.
Her photographic practice explores the intersections of landscape, memory and human resilience. Her acclaimed series Voir la mer (2014-2019) investigates the tension between urban beaches and the imaginary of the sea. It received the International Water Foundation prize in 2021 and was exhibited in France and abroad.
More recently, Céline has turned her lens to social and associative concerns: she created the exhibition La Force des Invisibles, a striking series of 14 portraits of family caregivers and their loved ones, produced in collaboration with the municipal network and associations in Cornouaille in the Finistère region. The exhibition toured local communities and aimed to highlight the invisible labour of caregivers.
Her dual perspective as artist and social-engagement actor brings a vital connection to communities, field reality and cultural expression.
