Bio
Angela Abou Ghazaleh is a senior human rights and humanitarian expert with over eight years of experience across Lebanon and the MENA region. She holds a Law degree with a specialization in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. Over the years, she has complemented her academic background with extensive professional development in advocating for human rights, conflict sensitivity, protection, gender mainstreaming, and donor compliance.
Angela specializes in rights-based programming, program management, and advocacy, with a proven track record managing UN-funded multi-sectoral projects in protection, gender-based violence, and social stability. Throughout her career, she has worked with leading international and national organizations, including Caritas, Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain, the International Catholic Migration Commission, and Amnesty International.
Angela led on project cycle management for major donor-funded programs, coordinated multi-sectoral protection and GBV interventions in Emergency and Crisis settings, and represented NGOs in national coordination forums and at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva where she engaged directly with Member States and Special Procedures and filed legal complaints to UN mechanisms. Her work also focused on strengthening partnerships with UN agencies, government authorities, and local NGOs to enhance program impact and sustainability.
Angela is a multilingual communicator; she is skilled in navigating multicultural environments and managing complex programs under pressure. Her approach combines legal expertise, humanitarian coordination, and strategic leadership with a commitment to advancing protection, inclusion, and human rights for all.
